Court Upholds Ononogbu As Abia APC Chairman

An Abia State High Court sitting in Aba, Abia State has declined the request of one Acho Obioma to set aside the election and swearing in of Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu as Abia State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The court first delivered ruling in respect of the preliminary objections by the claimant challenging its jurisdiction over the matter as it assumed jurisdiction to hear the case for which Abia APC accepts to appeal.

The oral application by Eligwe Uwa SAN, lawyer to Acho Obioma to set aside the swearing in of Dr Kingsley Ononogbu as the Abia state APC chairman was declined by the Court and the case was adjourned to Wednesday 23rd February 2023, for hearing of the other pending motions or application which has not been dealt with.

The issue of jurisdiction will now move to the court of Appeal. The Court is yet to look into any of the substantive issues.

Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu was elected State Chairman of the APC in Abia State following the death of Mr. Enyinnaya Habor in October 2021.
